Questions and answers
Everything companies ask before working with a fractional leader. Search, or browse by topic.
About fractional leadership
What does fractional mean?
A fractional leader is a senior executive who works with your company part-time, for a set number of days each month, instead of joining full-time.
How is a fractional leader different from a consultant?
A consultant usually answers a defined question and leaves a report. A fractional leader takes ongoing responsibility for a function, sits in your leadership meetings and is accountable for results.
What kind of companies use fractional leaders?
Companies whose problems need senior experience but whose workload does not yet justify a full-time executive. Trust Partners focuses on companies of 200 to 500 people.
Is a fractional leader our employee?
No. Your partner works under a services agreement with Trust Partners, so there is no employment contract, recruitment fee or notice period on your side.
Can a fractional leader become full-time?
Sometimes. More often, they help you define the full-time role, run the search and hand over to the new hire.
Engagement and pricing
How is pricing set?
Advisory and Embedded seats are a monthly fee based on the agreed days. Projects have a fixed price. Your proposal states both before you sign.
Is there a minimum term?
Seats start with an initial three months, then continue quarter by quarter.
How quickly can we start?
Usually within a few weeks of the discovery call, once the diagnostic and proposal are agreed.
Can we change the number of days?
Yes. Days can go up or down at each quarterly review, or sooner for a major project.
What if the partner is not the right fit?
Tell us. We introduce another partner and manage the handover.
Working together
How does a partner stay informed with a few days a month?
Through a fixed monthly rhythm of meetings and reports, a shared workspace, and phone or chat access for urgent matters.
Who does the partner report to?
The CEO, or another executive you choose. They also work directly with your managers.
Do partners work on-site?
Yes, for leadership meetings, workshops and key sessions. Other work happens online.
How do you protect our information?
Every partner signs a confidentiality agreement, access is limited to what the work needs, and everything is returned or deleted when the engagement ends.
Markets and compliance
Which markets do you cover?
Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Use the market switch at the top of any page to see local rules.
Do you help with local employment and data laws?
Yes. Every engagement starts with the rules in your markets. Where a formal legal opinion is needed, we work with law firms.
Can you handle work passes?
Yes. Trust Partners is a MOM-licensed employment agency (EA licence 22C0912) and processes Singapore work passes.
AI and training
Do we need clean data before starting an AI project?
No. The discovery sprint checks the data you have and picks use cases that work with it.
Are you tied to particular AI tools?
No. We choose tools per use case, based on accuracy, privacy, cost and fit with your systems.
Can training be funded by grants?
Possibly. Eligibility depends on the market, the course and the provider. We check before you commit.
Cyber Trust mark and quantum readiness
Who has to get the Cyber Trust mark?
CSA is phasing it in for CII owners (Advocate tier, by end 2027), auditors of CII systems (Advocate tier, by end 2026) and licensed cybersecurity service providers (Promoter tier, by 31 December 2026). GovTech will require it of vendors that manage critical systems or sensitive government data. For everyone else it is voluntary.
How long does Cyber Trust certification take?
Usually four to six months for companies of 200 to 500 people. The certification body checks that your controls work in practice, so they need to be running well before the audit.
Why prepare for quantum computers now?
Data stolen today can be decrypted once quantum computers are powerful enough, and moving to new encryption takes years. NIST's draft plan deprecates RSA-2048 and similar algorithms after 2030, and MAS aims for quantum-resilient financial institutions by the end of the decade.
Can you do both at once?
Yes. Both start with knowing your systems and data, so one assessment can cover the Cyber Trust mark and your quantum readiness together.
Not sure which seats you need?
The fit check takes about two minutes and suggests a starting bench, with reasons.
